Welcome to National Imaging Academy Wales

National Imaging Academy Wales opened its doors in August 2018 to train the next generation of radiologists and imaging professionals.

Established with £3.4m of funding from the Welsh Government, the Academy became Wales’ flagship purpose-designed, state-of-the-art facility, addressing the increasing need to train more Consultant Radiologists across the UK. Radiology Academies are well-established in other parts of the UK and widely regarded as a successful model for radiology training nationally, and this Wales’ Academy delivers the highest level of teaching to help meet the growing pressures faced by imaging professionals.

NIAW provides part of the Wales Clinical Radiology Specialist Training Programme, which ran two separate schemes in North and South Wales.

NIAW delivers the Royal College of Radiologists curriculum in a dedicated environment equipped with the latest technology.

Consultant radiologists from across Wales deliver an excellent standard of teaching as part of the training programme.
