subspecility

Trainees will spend more time on clinical placement..

Trainees who have completed core training and gained FRCR are required to focus on gaining sub-specialist experience in clinical practice so trainees will spend more time on clinical placement, supported by Academy training days. Senior training is formed of six monthly rotational placements.

The number of Academy days will reduce as training progresses when the focus on clinical training becomes more crucial, however subspecialty trainees will received advanced training at the Academy. Senior trainees will have training, supervisory and mentorship roles.

A select group of trainees require an additional ST6 training year including those specialising in vascular interventional radiology, neuro-interventional radiology and nuclear medicine.
